In some cases, making a decision on a brand of component to go with is rather difficult. With ASUS being a major well respected company when it comes to enthusiast-class gaming, and offering a 120hz 3D Vision ready LCD the decision was simple. The ASUS VG236HE is a 23" 1080p 120hz 3D Vision ready LCD monitor at a great price.
The ASUS VG236HE is a 120Hz LCD monitor that is required for flicker-free stereoscopic 3D gaming. In combination with the 3D Vision kit, this gives 60Hz per eye when in 3D mode. On paper this appears to be an excellent monitor, and in many ways is just that. The color accuracy once calibrated is quite good for a TN panel, and did better than expected placed next to an Apple Cinema Display in this regard. Before calibration however there were some large variances due to the VG236HE being a high-brightness display designed for 3D gaming. The added brightness is greatly appreciated when in 3D mode however, as the 3D Vision active shutter glasses block some of the light. Add to all of that the assortment of input’s, both digital and analog and it just gets even better. Read more »
