My friend has Deep Freeze version 7 installed on his home PC. When he powered on the computer earlier today, he needed to unfreeze his machine, but he noticed that Deep Freeze icon is missing from the notification area. He was worried that he will need to reinstall Windows, because no icon means you can't unfreeze or even uninstall DeepFreeze.
He ask me for help so I searched the Internet and found that the only way to fix the problem with missing Deep Freeze icon in Windows 7 notification area is indeed to reinstall Windows. No way. I think that there should be a better solution than that. Fortunately, there's an easy fix for this problem. I told him to first reboot his PC and hit the F8 key in order to get into the Windows startup menu. I had him try to boot from the last known good configuration. Words cannot describe how happy he was, because he solved the strange problem with Deep Freeze disappearing from the Windows 7 notification area.
