A pretty slow news-day today, so time for a nice phat weekend update of some good hardware deals. After all the processor releases I figured now is a good time to focus at a couple of popular processors and some good motherboards to go along with them.
AMD processors:
AMD Phenom II X3 710 2.6GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Processor
- this is probably my most favorite processor right now due to sheer performance and value. Next to that, some of you have been able to unlock the 4th core as well. Also, an overclock to 3600 MHz on air should not be an issue either. And it's selling for just $119 - really amazing value there guys.
AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0GHz Black Edition Quad-core Processor - With the release of the new Phenom II X4 955 BE processor, the X4 940 dropped in price. Grab yourself a DDR2 AMD 790 based motherboard, and you have no idea what kind of performance you are looking at. Amazing value folks and it just dropped to $189.99 with free shipping and heck, it is a Black Edition, it overclocks to 3600 Mhz on just an air cooler really easily.
2.6GHz AMD Phenom X4 Quad-core 9950 4000MHz 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ HD995ZXAGHBOX
- Though I'm a fan of Phenom II more than Phenom I, this is among the cheapest of quad core processors you can purchase. Again a Black Edition which clocks to roughly 3300 MHz. Heaps and heaps of value at $150.16

- Intel makes some excellent processors, this is their budget quad core. Clocked at 2.33 GHz is delivers a good punch, we spotted it at $152.92
Intel Core2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor
- This is one of my more favorite Intel quad core processors, it's 45nm based, clocked at 2.66 GHz and overclock pretty well. $214.99 is you price.
