E6300 is a dual-core processor based on the 45nm 'Wolfdale' core that falls into the upper end of family. This 2.8GHz dual-core processor is in stock and available for $78.99 with free shipping, which puts it within only a of couple bucks of the slower Pentium E5400. What makes the E6300 special is a 1066MHz front-side bus speed, a notch above the 800MHz FSB Core-based Pentiums have toted for years. In fact, the Pentium E6300 would be almost identical to the $120 Core 2 Duo E7400 if you gave it an extra 1MB of L2 cache. E6300 supports VT-x instructions and this feature adds even more value to it.
With a TDP (thermal design power) of just 65W, Intel Pentium E6300 socket LGA775 processor is highly efficient 45nm CPU and coupled with a good motherboard should be able to provide exceptional levels of power savings and enhanced power efficiency. If you want great performance at a great price, this is the CPU you need. You can easily overclock the new E6300 CPU @ 3.5 ghz using the stock Intel air-cooler.

A pretty slow news-day today, so time for a nice phat weekend update of some good hardware deals. After all the processor releases I figured now is a good time to focus at a couple of popular processors and some good motherboards to go along with them.

AMD processors:

AMD Phenom II X3 710 2.6GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Processor

- this is probably my most favorite processor right now due to sheer performance and value. Next to that, some of you have been able to unlock the 4th core as well. Also, an overclock to 3600 MHz on air should not be an issue either. And it's selling for just $119 - really amazing value there guys.

AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0GHz Black Edition Quad-core Processor
- With the release of the new Phenom II X4 955 BE processor, the X4 940 dropped in price. Grab yourself a DDR2 AMD 790 based motherboard, and you have no idea what kind of performance you are looking at. Amazing value folks and it just dropped to $189.99 with free shipping and heck, it is a Black Edition, it overclocks to 3600 Mhz on just an air cooler really easily.

2.6GHz AMD Phenom X4 Quad-core 9950 4000MHz 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ HD995ZXAGHBOX

- Though I'm a fan of Phenom II more than Phenom I, this is among the cheapest of quad core processors you can purchase. Again a Black Edition which clocks to roughly 3300 MHz. Heaps and heaps of value at $150.16

Recommended motherboard for any of these processors:

ECS A790GXM-A (V1.0) Socket AM2+/ 790G/ DDR2-1066/ A&V&2GbE/ ATX Motherboard

, we reviewed this motherboard and it rocks, all processors above will run with it and this little gem of a motherboard sells for just $116.82 it's great value, as simple as that.

Intel Core 2 processors:

2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8200 1333MHz 4MB LGA775 EU80580PJ0534MN

- Intel makes some excellent processors, this is their budget quad core. Clocked at 2.33 GHz is delivers a good punch, we spotted it at $152.92

Intel Core2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor

- This is one of my more favorite Intel quad core processors, it's 45nm based, clocked at 2.66 GHz and overclock pretty well. $214.99 is you price.

Recommended motherboard for any of these processors:

ASUS P5Q SE PLUS ATX Intel Motherboard is an Intel P45 chipset-based motherboard - of course the sky is the limit for Core 2 motherboards really, this one is great, has excellent features and is priced at just $96.99

The TX850W has been designed by Corsair and engineered to meet the demanding requirements of PC enthusiasts, creative professionals and gamers. The TX850W is built using Industrial Grade components to ensure clean and stable voltages, and has been qualified to operate at 100% load at an ambient temperature of 50ÂșC for unmatched reliability. The Corsair TX850W boasts a dedicated +12V rail capable of delivering 70A (840W), which equates to 98.8% of the PSU’s total power output. This makes it ideal for high-end graphics cards and multi-core CPUs, such as the latest Intel Core i7-series, all of which require high amounts of stable power at 12V.

“Corsair’s TX650W and TX750W PSUs have led the market in terms of offering superior quality at affordable prices,” said Jim Carlton, VP of Marketing at Corsair. “The TX850W raises the bar even further by offering even more power while retaining the unmatched standards of quality that has led to Corsair recently being voted ‘Best PSU Manufacturer’ for the second consecutive year.”
In addition to high power output, the TX850W offers greater than 80% energy efficiency, resulting in less heat, less noise and lower electricity bills. The high-quality, temperature-controlled 140mm fan provides effective cooling at whisper-quiet noise levels under typical conditions.
Four 6+2-pin PCI-E cables are provided and the TX850W has been thoroughly tested for compatibility with NVIDIA SLI and ATI Crossfire solutions. The TX850W also boasts extra-long cables to support full tower chassis.

AMD reduced their pricing late yesterday on the Phenom II X4 940 from $275 to $235 and the 920 model from $235 to $195. This new pricing scheme takes effect immediately. In fact, pricing at most of the e-tailors already reflect this decrease as we burned a hole in our wallet ordering a few retail samples for upcoming articles. We discovered in recent testing that the Phenom II X4 (could we not have gotten a better name) 940 compared favorably to the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 and the Phenom II X4 920 was a match for the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 in most cases.
Intel is now pricing the Q9400 at $213, a drop from $266, while the Q9300 will remain at $266 and essentially be phased out. Read more...
