When you see the XPS 15z your first thought is likely to be about how much it resembles the old titanium MacBook. Its rounded corners, silver metal finish and slot-loading DVD drive all remind us of the Apple machine. Open the XPS up and start using it and not only is the resemblance not as close as you first thought, but your attention will be on other things, like the fantastic screen.

The MSI GE 620 is positioning itself as a viable notebook for a wide audience who are interested in portable gaming. Technically speaking, it is certainly an awesome specification for well under a grand, we have tested the Intel Core i7-2630QM before and it is a fantastic processor. Equally so, the Nvidia GT 540M is a powerful discrete solution capable of powering through many of the modern gaming engines. Battery life is also a plus point, averaging between 3 and 4 hours for media playback and general work related demands. Gaming reduces this to just over 2 hours, but for a 6 cell battery this is good. We are glad to report that MSI are using a 7,200 rpm hard drive which delivers decent all round performance with high storage capabilities.

The Asus ROG G74SX A1 notebook features a second generation Intel Core i7-2360QM CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M for graphics firepower, and 12GB of DDR3-1333 RAM. The G74's 17.3-inch Full HD display (1920x1080) in concert with a Blu-ray combo drive and THX TruStudio + EAX 5.0 3D gaming audio should help make gaming and movie-watching an immersive experience.
The G74SX-A1 also sports a USB 3.0 port (in addition to three USB 2.0) and HDMI-out for connectivity. Storage is not a problem--the notebook boasts two 750GB 7200RPM hard drives in a RAID 0 configuration for a total of 1.5TB of space.
Accessory-wise, the G74SX-A1 includes the Asus ROG Laser Gaming Mouse, which nicely matches the overall look and design of the notebook itself, and a ROG backpack for toting the machine around.
Asus did a lot of things right with the G74SX-A1, and it's every bit a worthy successor to the G73 series.

The newest representative of the T-series, T420, is the one that we’ve received for testing, and its intention was to convince us that it’s worthy of replacing one of the company’s best-selling models, T410. As far as naming goes, T420 tells us everything about it - the series in question, its display size, as well as the type of CPU in question.
The fantastic display with a resolution of 1600x900 (the perfect one for this display size, in our opinion) contributes to this feeling. This display diagonal is perfect for portable workstations, and combined with the aforementioned resolution, it enables a wide array of usage scenarios and great comfort in work. As usual, Lenovo hasn’t disappointed us with the display in any regard, since it has an anti-reflective coating, which makes it ideal for outside use under direct sunlight, where most display fail and become practically unusable.

We've been hearing about the AMD Fusion APU for years now, so when we got the opportunity to do a review on a Sony VAIO laptop with the dual-core E-350 APU we jumped at the chance to see what it can do. The notebook we received for testing was the Sony VAIO Y series notebook, which is a very small 11.6" ultra portable notebook.
The Sony VAIO Y series laptop measures in at 11.42" (W) x 0.99"-1.25" (H) x 7.99" (D) with a weight of just 3.23 lbs. This type of a notebook is a travelers dream as it is compact and light. Sony offers the VAIO Y series in two colors; pink and silver. As you can see from the images on this page we were sent the silver model and that is fine by us!

Today, we're taking a look at a member of that new breed of laptops, the Asus K53E, which plays host to the i5-2520M as well as a 15.6" LCD panel and a run-of-the-mill six-cell battery. By running the K53E through our mobile test suite, we'll get a feel for the kind of performance and unplugged run time you can expect from an everyday Sandy Bridge laptop—the kind you might find at Best Buy for well under $700.
We'll also get a sense of the Asus K53E, which, unlike the 17" Compal review unit we studied in January, is an honest-to-goodness retail system (though the exact configuration we'll be testing doesn't appear to be available for sale right now). K53E models with slower Sandy Bridge CPUs and less exotic specifications can be nabbed for as little as $704.59 at Compuvest right now. If the system's battery life, performance, and build quality are what they should be, the K53E could be a sweet deal.

The ThinkPad T400s starts at $1,509 and offers many customization options and other features that business users are sure to love, including VoIP support and a powered USB port that will accommodate iPhone/iPod and Blackberry circuitry. | ASUS W90Vp-A1 is equipped with Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000/Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 processor, Intel Express X38 based motherboard, dual ATI Mobility Radeon 4870 graphic cards running in CrossFire mode, 6GB of DDR2-800 memory, 5.1 Dolby-certified speakers, and finally, one of the most gorgeous laptop displays we’ve ever seen, an 18.4” 1920x1080 display backed by ASUS’ Zero Bright dot display policy which guarantees that the display will ship free of dead pixels or ASUS will replace it free of charge within 30 days of purchase. |
Packing 800 stream processors and 512MB of DDR3 VRAM, the Mobility Radeon 4870 is just about as good as it gets right now when it comes to mobile graphics. Equipping the notebook with two of these GPUs is simply an extraordinary amount of graphics horsepower for a notebook PC – most desktop gaming rigs don’t have this kind of power on tap.
